marcusmiller-jazz-bass-img08 Swamp Ash

Premium swamp ash tone wood is usually found in higher priced instruments. Swamp ash tone wood is known to produce a well balanced tone. It is highly resonant and offers a nice balance of pleasant highs, firm lows, and a slightly scooped midrange which is great for slap playing. The characteristics of this wood enable players to emulate Marcus Miller’s tone a step further.

marcusmiller-jazz-bass-img09 North American Alder

A popular choice for most bass guitars is the North American Alder. Other basses at this price range commonly use Basswood or Agathis tone wood but Sire Guitars chooses the traditional North American Alder which is known for its strong clear full-bodied sound, with beefy mids and excellent lows that is perfect for the traditional jazz bass sound.

SOUND UPGRADE

Nut is one of the most important parts of the guitar that influences the performance, playability, and tone of the instrument. Depending on the quality of the material and elasticity, the nut can improve the sound or degrade the sound. Although bone nut is more costly and harder to work with, it is considered to deliver more balanced, clearer and smoother tone than plastic or eurite material.

I’ve got this one last year around june, I was literaly blown away by the overall quality of the instrument. I decided to bring it around for a gig that month and it instantly became my main bass. For years I played an American Vintage Fender 75 (1999) and then suddently it was the Sire all over and I am not coming back. After a year of intense gigging (semi-pro with more than 2 gigs/month) with my rock band the V7 it’s still (almost) new and always my first choice in every situation for his versatility, sparkling electronics and playability. I love the “crunchy” and aggressive sound of the rosewood fingerboard. I am always sure to be able to pierce the mix in every situation (open air, recording or club) and to be “in the front row” with my sound. Truly an amazing bass. Cheers!

Could someone let me know what the weight is of these basses? I’ve looked all through the site and it doesn’t seem to be posted anywhere. I’m assuming the alder basses are lighter than the swamp ash, but could you give some numbers?

Thanks a lot, I’m having some trouble deciding which bass to get and weight may be the deciding factor.

    • Hello Tom,

      Greetings from Sire Guitars!

Thanks for contacting Sire Guitars and for your inquiry. Below are the approximate bass weights on average. Please be advised that these are based on average weights that have been manufactured.

We do not weigh each bass individually and all basses do vary in weights because of wood density. So below is only a guideline and we do want to make it clear that some can weigh more.

      M3 : 3.45kg = 7.6lbs
      V7 Alder 4st : 4.33kg = 9.54lbs
      V7 Ash 4st : 4.34kg = 9.56lbs
      V7 Alder 5st : 4.67kg= 10.29lbs
      V7 Ash 5st : 4.75kg = 10.47

Regarding string spacing, below are the details about it:

      Sire V7 4 string: 20mm
      Sire V7 5 String: 18mm
      Sire M3 4 string: 20mm

Best regards and thank you for choosing SIRE!

      Sincerely,

Extraordinary bass. Feels just like a custom shop, and nobody even spotted the difference. Best preamp system and the coolest thing is that it came in tune. It’s incredible.

    Hi there!
    I have two questions:
    1) I leave in Canada, but the MM V7 4st black that i’m interested in is out of stock on the USA website.
Is there any issue if i order from Thomann in Germany?

    2) I am just wondering if replacement parts, such as a pickguard, can be purchased separetely.

    Thanks in advance,
    Marcio.

    • Hello Marcio, you can order via thomann as well if you wish. For the parts, as of the moment we are not selling the accessories of our basses. If ever we do, we will announce it viamour facebook page. :)

Hi, I have a fender american vintage 75 jazz bass (2001) with a vintage 70’s C shape neck that I love. I am looking for a backup bass with a rosewood fingerboard. I would like to know how the neck of the V7 compares to the 70’s C shape of my jazz bass? Is it as slim? Thanks

    • We would suggest the Vintage V7 bass for that vintage feel with the neck Jimmy. Thanks for visiting our website!
